As summer approaches, Edge Lane and Clayton Methodist Church find ourselves reflecting on the journey we've shared with Joy, our beloved minister, who will soon embark on a new chapter of her life: retirement. Over the past eight years, Joy has been a guiding light within our congregation, leading us through both joyous and challenging times with unwavering faith and dedication.
We extend our heartfelt best wishes to Joy and her husband Bryan as they prepare to settle into their new home. Joy's impact on our community has been profound, especially during the last four years marked by the pandemic, challenges at Clayton, and recent health issues. Through it all, Joy has shown remarkable resilience and grace, inspiring us with her steadfast commitment to serving the Lord and his people.
Farewell Service and Celebration
On Sunday, July 14th, at 11:00am, we will gather for Joy's final service with us at Edge Lane and Clayton Methodist Church, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. This will be a poignant moment for our community as we express our gratitude for Joy's ministry and bid her a fond farewell.
Special Evening Celebration at Hope Methodist Church
Later that same day, at 6:30pm, we invite everyone to join us at Hope Methodist Church for a special service celebrating significant milestones in ministry:
Farewell to Joy: A time to say goodbye and express our appreciation for Joy's dedication and leadership.
Ordination of Rev Catherine Hughes: Celebrating and welcoming Rev Catherine Hughes into the ministry.
Congratulations to Rev Sharon Read: Recognizing Rev Sharon Read's appointment as Mission Area Lead, serving between Manchester and Lancashire in the new N.W District.
This evening of celebration promises to be a memorable occasion as we honor Joy's legacy, welcome new beginnings, and rejoice in the continuing journey of faith within our community.
To Joy: May your retirement be filled with all that you wish for, and may you always find joy and fulfillment in the memories of your service to God and his people. Thank you, Joy, for your profound impact on our lives, and may God continue to bless you abundantly in this new season of life.
